Dress or coat you choose

The idea behind the emergence of our brand was

to use the cheerful and colorful African fabrics to promote and disseminate African culture and,

at the same time, we found it an interesting challenge to use these fabrics, without losing their cultural identity, to make high-quality clothes in a western style with an eclectic design developed for self-confident people who like to dress differently.

And E Z U was born.

Our pieces are timeless, handmade in Portugal with love and care, with fabrics coming from Africa for you.

Each EZU piece that comes out of our atelier has a unique code identifying the model, the pattern, and a sequential number. We know, for each piece, when it was created, what resources we have used, and how it has been done. Each model has very few units due to the small number of fabrics with the same pattern usually available.

The underlying concept is similar to that used in the art world when a silkscreen is reproduced a limited number of times and authenticated by its author.

Consequently, our customers are in possession of something almost exclusive and, in some cases, unique, which can last a long time due to its high quality and our after-sales maintenance service.

Our after-sales maintenance service

This service, always subject to our prior acceptance, is available to “fix” your EZU piece along its “life” in case something goes wrong:

  • for repairing (if the original resources are still available and if the repair is feasible) or,

  • for recovering (finding a new solution if there aren’t original resources available or if the damage was destructive).

Our Brand Values

Meet the Team

Paula Azevedo

Hello! That’s me on the left side of this picture, “the designer”!

After a degree in applied mathematics and a long time working in the financial industry, a few years ago I’ve decided to make a loop back to university again. I went to Faculdade de Arquitectura from Universidade de Lisboa where I graduated in fashion design.

When my friend Margarida challenged me to start this brand I found it very appealing. I’m a “color lover” and due to the magnificent exuberance of the African fabrics and the cultural meaning behind their patterns I didn’t resist and I said yes to her kind invitation.

What else to shortly say about me? I’m curious for a bunch of things …, but mainly I think I love traveling, reading, painting, and sketching, always looking for a nice picture on my Instagram, and, of course, I love a good talk with friends along with a glass of white wine. I was born in Lisbon where I happily live in a family of 5 and our dog.

My “motto” is “Live fully! Love deeply! Laugh loudly!”

New fashion independent brands

Margarida Bajanca

Africa is special to me and EZU is a way to share Africa through fashion. As a child, I lived twice in Angola. In the last 10 years, I have been back several times for work, for friendship, and for social causes.

With my traveling to Angola, I started loving African fabrics with all their colors and stories. I bought so many that a fashion brand needed to be born.

I enjoy traveling to see and learn more about the world, having good moments with family and friends, and running. I dedicate some time to social projects (never enough), with Pirâmide World Foundation and Associação PWF Portugal. As such, social sustainability is critical for our brand, and that’s why we choose slow fashion, which is not only good for the environment but also for the people who work in this industry.

I am an economist by training, a business and health consultant, a mother of two, and the owner of a beautiful Swiss Sheperd.
